I’m Really Bad at Coming Up With Names for Workouts…

How do you fellow bloggers always seem to come up with a cute name for the new workout you are sharing? I am the worst at this! If you look at my Workouts page you will see that I don’t have many creative names for the workouts I have made up. Maybe I will get better at this, or maybe my workouts will just have boring, corny names. Most likely it will be the latter. πŸ™‚

I did some strength training as part of my marathon training yesterday and made up a new workout I wanted to share. Because it’s a strength workout and Β you are working your muscles, I gave this workout the clever name, “Work All of Those Muscles.” I know, I know, I don’t know how I am so creative. πŸ˜‰

I did 15 reps of all of the exercises except for the lunge pulses into a bicep curl and the wall sit, and you can read in the picture what I did for those. (Note: for the lunge pulses into bicep curl, I did 20 total, 10 each leg). I went through this for a total of three times, and could feel the burn! Make sure you use weight that is challenging enough for you!

And before I go get ready for bed I want to share a picture of my dinner because it was sooooo delicious! And yes, all of those o’s were necessary in “so” because it was that good.

Now that I am posting this picture, I see that this actually isn’t a very good picture and it doesn’t look that appetizing. Please trust me though; this was delicious. Ryan put it under the “phenomenal” category! This was taco chili with nacho cheese sauceΒ from Angela at Oh She Glows. This is also where I got the recipe for the amazing whole wheat pizza crust we made on Sunday.Β None of her recipes have disappointed us yet! If you have never checked out her blog or recipes, you should!

I ate my chili on a bed of spinach, which you can see from the picture above, so that I could get in some extra veggies, but this chili is perfectly fine by itself. Ryan ate it in a bowl with some shredded cheese on top and some tortilla chips. I also think it would be amazing on a bed of quinoa. So many options!

Lastly, I also made some homemade almond butter for the first time last night in our food processor.

Oh my gosh, I’m so happy I decided to do this! It was so easy and absolutely scrumptious! All I did was put one cup of almonds in the food processor and put it on high for a few minutes. Anyone can do that! I will probably use more almonds next time so that it will make more almond butter! This is a much more affordable option since almond butter can be a little pricey.

Birthday Celebrations!

First off, I want to start out by giving a HUGE happy birthday to the most amazing husband in the world!!!

Thank you for constantly encouraging me and supporting me in everything I do. Thank you for being a gentleman at all times and doing the little things, like opening my door and cleaning the dishes. Okay, so now onto a recap of our super fun, marvelous weekend! This means I definitely have to link up with Marvelous Mondays!

Like I mentioned, we started celebrating Ryan’s birthday Saturday by staying at a hotel that night and going out to eat. The hotel was really nice, (and I got a great deal which made it even better!), but the only disappointment was that the pictures showed there was an indoor hot tub with the indoor pool, but I guess they haven’t updated their website because where the hot tub should have been was just a table and chairs. 😦 But we definitely didn’t let that ruin our weekend, and we still had a blast!

We started off the day by going to Ryan’s favorite store!

I actually really enjoy going to this store too. Ryan didn’t buy anything, but he had some things he needed to return and we just looked around.

I told Ryan to pick anywhere he wanted for us to eat, and this was his choice.

Burger House Hamburgers! Ryan loves places like this, where they just make good burgers, fries, and homemade shakes. He isn’t a fancy restaurant guy, which I love about him. Plus, I love restaurants like this too, so it made for a perfect dinner.

This was my meal. I know this looks like a lot of food, but I actually got the kids meal! This was the kid’s burger and fries and then a small vanilla milkshake. It was all delicious! πŸ™‚

After we ate we were both stuffed and went back to our hotel room to relax and watch the Dallas Mavericks basketball game. Ryan didn’t want to do anything else. I know this date night doesn’t seem like much, but it was perfect for us!

We woke up the next morning and were ready for the free breakfast the hotel offered by the time it opened at 7:00 a.m. I enjoyed some oatmeal with walnuts and some eggs.

Ryan and I both agreed that it was one of the best free hotel breakfasts we had ever had. The eggs were actually real and didn’t look like patties. (Do y’all know what I’m talking about? Where they don’t look or taste like eggs? If you don’t know, consider yourself lucky).

By the time we got back home it was too late to go to our own church, so we watched a sermon online together, and then took our dogs out for a walk before the Cowboys football game started.

We actually went for a walk/run, and I was very proud of Ryan because it has been a while since he last ran. But when we finished I think he was a little tired. πŸ™‚

For the rest of the afternoon we relaxed, Ryan watched football, and I did some grocery shopping and food prep for the week. Ryan also helped me make dinner, so we had some delicious chicken fajitas with guacamole!

I ate mine on corn tortillas and topped them eat with spinach and tomatoes. Then I had carrots, bell pepper, and some Almond Thins with guacamole. Delicious!

That was all of our birthday weekend, but of course we are still celebrating today!

I got this Happy Birthday sign at WalMart last night, so it will probably be up all week. πŸ™‚ Tonight we are having Ryan’s favorite meal for dinner, cheeseburgers, chips and queso, and macaroni and cheese. Then pumpkin pie for dessert!

My Bachelorette Party!

This is the start of me finally posting about all of my fun wedding festivities that occurred! Today I will write about my bachelorette party, and later I will write about our rehearsal dinner, then our wedding, and finally our honeymoon! (I know, about time right?)

My bachelorette party was the night before the rehearsal dinner, so I was definitely super excited to get married, and everything was finally coming together. This party might seem weird to most of you, but it was absolutely PERFECT for me! My maid of honor, Marlee, definitely did good planning this for me! I guess I could say she knows me pretty well! πŸ™‚ Love this pretty lady!

Krystal was my only bridesmaid who couldn’t make it, but she had work and her three kiddos to take care of that night, so I completely understood! But since she won’t be in any of the pictures, here is a picture of me with my beautiful sister-in-law so that y’all know how much I love her!

We started out the party by going to the park for some yoga!

One of my favorite instructors and coworkers, Sarah, from the gym I worked at in college came and taught an hour long yoga class for us outside. It was so fun! It was a great workout, and I think the heat outside made me like it even more! It definitely made me want to try hot yoga sometime!

After yoga we all went and changed into some cuter clothes, touched up our makeup and hair, and tried to hide our smell with some perfume before heading to dinner.

I had no idea where we were going, but I was pleasantly surprised when we showed up at a Japanese steakhouse. It was one of those fun places where everyone sits around a table, and they cook the food in front of Β you. Not only do I think dinners like this are so fun, but the food is always so good! Marlee and I split a plate that came with chicken, salmon, rice, veggies, soup, and salad! Sadly, I didn’t get a picture, but trust me, it was good. My lovely, soon to be sister-in-law, Kaleigh, was sweet enough to take some pictures of the whole night so I didn’t have to worry about it.

Brigette had to fly in so she couldn’t make it in time for yoga, but she showed up to the restaurant at the same time as us, so it was perfect timing! Above is the whole group! Aren’t my bridesmaids beautiful? I love each of them so much!

And here is an awkward picture of just me I decided to throw in for laughs. I mean, is it just me or are pictures by yourself extremely awkward to take? I never know what to do with my hands, and I feel like I have no friends.

After dinner we headed back to Marlee’s parents’ house since it was close and we all spent the night! It was so fun having all of my closest friends together for a sleepover! Obviously we stayed up way too late talking about the most random and unimportant things ever. But it was perfect. πŸ™‚

So if you can’t tell, I’m not exactly a crazy, partying type. I know to most people my bachelorette party seems super lame, but to me, it could not have been more perfect. I got to work out, eat, and just have fun with my closest girl friends! That’s hard to beat! I will remember that night forever, and I am so thankful for my amazing friends who made the night so special for me! Thank y’all for always being there for me and supporting me not only on my big day, but all of the days leading up to my big day! πŸ™‚

P.S. Even though I am not really the partying type, I do not judge anyone who likes to have fun differently than me. We are all different, and that’s what makes the world fun! πŸ™‚

Honey Barbecue Meatloaf

Meatloaf just sounds horrible. Like honestly, why would someone give any food a name like “meat loaf?” I am actually a person who loves this dish, but I know a lot of people don’t, and when asked why they say, “it just sounds gross.” And they are right. But the meat loaf I made tonight was far from gross; it was scrumptious! Β I spent about 2 and a half hours this afternoon at a TRX fitness training, cycled for 30 minutes, and then played volleyball for a little over an hour with some people at my school, so let’s just say I was a little hungry when it came dinnertime. πŸ™‚ I made this recipe a few weeks ago for Ryan and I, and we both loved it so tonight seemed like a perfect night to make it again. Except last time, Ryan and I ate most of it the night I made it so we didn’t have that much for leftovers, so I decided to double the recipe tonight. πŸ™‚ In case you can’t tell, Ryan and I LOVE leftovers!

But I can’t take credit for this awesome recipe. I found this recipe over at Andie’s blog, canyoustayfordinner.com.Β I pretty much went exactly by her recipe, except I doubled everything to make more. And since I was in a hurry I turned the oven up to about 450 degrees instead of 350 because Ryan had to go work on a group project in the library, and I wanted it to be done in time for him to eat before he left.

Here is the meat, bread crumbs (I used breadcrumbs instead of putting a piece of bread in the food processor to make it easier), seasonings, and sauces all mixed together and made into a loaf. In her blog, Andie warns you not to pack the meat too tightly or it will be very dense and tough. Next I poured half of the sauce mixture on the loaf before putting it in the oven to bake.

Since I turned my oven up so much, this baby only took about 30 minutes to cook! The end result:

It came out looking delicious, and tasted even more yummy than it looked! I enjoyed a pretty large piece, and Ryan enjoyed two pieces. After dinner we were full and happy. πŸ™‚ Here is my plate. I also had some steamed brussels sprouts and some mashed cauliflower.

Now, I am sad to say, my mashed cauliflower was not as much of a success this time as my meatloaf was. And when I say it wasn’t as much of a success, I mean it was disgusting! I made this before and Ryan and I both really liked it, but sadly, I did something different this time and it was not good at all! I am pretty positive that I added too much milk and vinegar this time, which gave it the bad taste. I hate wasting food, but I had to end up throwing the rest of the mashed cauliflower out because I couldn’t make myself eat the rest. I did, however, make myself eat the part that is pictured on my plate.

Even though it wasn’t good this time, I really do like mashed cauliflower and I encourage you to try it! Ryan, who is very picker and isn’t a big fan of vegetables, even liked it last time! So check out the link here to see how to make it. But I will be honest, it will look like mashed potatoes, but it doesn’t taste like mashed potatoes. It isn’t bad, but it’s different. Ryan, however, always eats his mashed potatoes with honey, so he put honey on his mashed cauliflower and said it tasted exactly like mashed potatoes to him! Anytime I can get my man to eat vegetables I’m a happy girl! πŸ™‚

Wow, I can’t believe it is already Sunday night. Why do weekends have to go by so fast?? Oh well, back to the grind tomorrow! I hope everyone has a fabulous Monday!
