birthday

Fitness Week of 2/10-2/16

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! I had a fantastic weekend celebrating Valentine’s Day with Ryan on Friday night and then celebrating my birthday with my family Saturday night and Sunday. (My real birthday is actually today though.) We all had so much fun! I wish I could share pictures with y’all, but still hoping to switch to self-hosting soon! Remember, you can follow me on Instagramย to still keep up with some of my pictures!

Saturday night my parents took Ryan and I and my brother and SIL to Saltgrass, a nice steak house, for dinner. I had grilled chicken with vegetables and a salad, and it was delicious! That night we stayed up late talking and laughing since we were all spending the night at my parents’ house. Sunday morning Ryan, Ben, my Dad, and I all played tennis, which was a blast! Then my whole family came over for a huge lunch of turkey, dressing, corn casserole, and a ton of other good food and desserts! We also got to play some ping pong and shoot Ryan’s new bow and arrow I got him for Valentine’s Day. It was seriously such a perfect way to start my birthday! I look forward to celebrating some more tonight with Ryan, and Ryan even says he will take me out to eat just us this weekend to celebrate my birthday too! ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyways, I normally like to share my workouts from the past week on Sundays, but I never got a chance to post yesterday, so I wanted to briefly share last week’s workouts with y’all today.

Monday: 7 miles, 20 minute post run yoga (from doyogawithme.com), my add-on leg workout 3xs through.

Tuesday: Love Your Body workout from Purelytwins and my amazing arms workout 2xs

Wednesday: 4x400s & 4x800s. I would run one 400, walk for a minute, run one 800, walk for two minutes, and then start again with a 400 until I completed the workout.

Thursday: 6 miles and 8 minute abs

Friday: yoga from doyogawithme.com

Saturday: 17 mile run

Sunday: active rest day, tennis with the family.

I was so excited and happy after my 17 mile run because I felt great! This was the longest distance I have ever run, and the fact that I felt good during it was really encouraging since I am getting closer and closer to my marathon!

Anyways, I better go because since I can’t put new pictures on my posts, I am trying to keep them short. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I hope you all have a great week!

Questions:

1. How was your weekend? Tell me some fun things you did!

2. Any plans for this week?

3. Are you off work today for President’s Day? I wish I was; Ryan is. We have a teacher work day, so I will be in training all day.ย

4. How were your workouts last week?

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! This post is coming a little later than usual, but oh well.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to post today because of reasons stated in my last post, but I couldn’t resist!

I wish I could have been able to write the posts I wanted to about Valentine’s Day before this, but oh well, I will write them at some point. ๐Ÿ™‚

So I’ll be honest, Valentine’s Day isn’t my favorite holiday. Probably because I think it’s a made up holiday so that stores can make money. But, I still enjoy today. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think it’s so important, actually it’s most important, that people show love to the special people in their life year around, not just on today. That doesn’t mean celebrating today with that special person is wrong either though.

Becky + Ryan 46

Ryan and I prefer to keep Valentine’s Day low key and not spend too much money. After all, my birthday is in three days, so that’s way more important to me than Valentine’s Day. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But we still have plans to make tonight a fun, romantic, inexpensive date night. ๐Ÿ™‚

Becky + Ryan 35

I will go pick us up dinner at a restaurant Ryan has been wanting to try that is known for it’s burgers, fries, ย and shakes. A.K.A. Ryan’s favorite kind of restaurant. When I am out picking up dinner, Ryan is going to make sure everything is perfect at home for a romantic, date night dinner at home. This is a perfect, low key Valentine’s Date for us. We would much rather do this than go out to an expensive restaurant that is extremely crowded and wait forever to be seated. Um, no thanks. We will stay at home and be comfortable. ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_4939

I can almost guarantee I will be wearing fuzzy socks on this date. #totallynormal

I am also excited for the rest of this weekend! Like I have mentioned, my birthday is this Saturday, so this weekend we are celebrating that with my family.

Tomorrow morning Ryan and I are volunteering with a group from our church to do some type of canned food drive or something. (I’m not totally sure what we will be doing; I guess I will find out tomorrow!) Then tomorrow night Ryan and I are having dinner with my parents, brother, and SIL to celebrate my big day. I think we are all staying the night with my parents because Sunday we are having a big lunch with the rest of my family to celebrate my birthday and my little cousin’s 8th birthday, which was earlier this month. Here’s the whole group who should be at our Sunday lunch!

Plus my other set of grandparents who aren’t in this picture, but here they are below.

IMG_4789

I am so excited for the birthday celebrations to begin!

Lucky for me though, the celebrations won’t end this weekend! Ryan and I will go out to eat by ourselves next weekend to celebrate my birthday! Since my birthday is on a Monday and I will have work the next day, I told Ryan I would rather us go out on a weekend so we won’t have to worry about working the next day. I also don’t mind extending my birthday celebrations. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So there’s a little bit of what I will be up to this Valentine’s/birthday weekend! Oh I will also be fitting in a 17 mile run at some point! This will be the longest distance for me to ever run; I’m pretty excited!

Finally, I have to end by wishing my amazing husband/Valentine/best friend an amazing day!

80th Birthday Party and Homemade Pizza

Are you all ready for a great week?? Let’s be positive and say HECK YES! ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! Our weekend was fun, but very busy!

I woke up naturally at exactly 6:12 a.m. on Saturday and layered up for my long run.

IMG_5331

I am so over this cold weather, and by cold weather, I mean like barely freezing. You know, I live in Texas, so I’m a huge baby when it comes to cold. So all of you Northerners are way tougher than me. I apologize for complaining about weather that I can still run in, when a lot of you can’t even run outside it’s so bad out there! But it was 27 degrees when I started my run, and only 32 when I finished, and to me those are some low temperatures!

IMG_5327 IMG_5329

Despite the cold weather, the 15 miler felt great! This is a huge encouragement for the rest of my training!

When I finished my run, I came in and stretched while I talked to Ryan laying in bed. Then I showered and got ready for a wedding shower! One of my best friends from elementary school/junior high/high school is getting married in April, and her shower was Saturday. I am so happy for her, and I can’t wait for her big day!

Oh, and just a tip, if you run a long run and you want to wear your procompression socks or sleeves, just wear a dress with leggings and boots, and no one will ever know. ๐Ÿ˜‰ This totally saved my legs Saturday!

IMG_5334

The shower was in the town where my parents live, so Ryan and I drove to their house so my Mom and I could go to the shower together. While we were gone, Ryan, my dad, and my brother, Ben, went and played disc golf.

The shower was beautiful, and Amber was gorgeous!ย It was also nice to see some people from my hometown that I hadn’t seen in a while. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures here, but just take my word that everything was wonderful. ๐Ÿ™‚

After the shower I hung out at my parents’ house with my Mom, and with Ryan and my Dad when they returned from disc golf . Ben and Kaleigh came over about 5 that night and we all left to go to my aunt and uncle’s house to celebrate my grandfather’s 80th birthday!

IMG_5360

This is my wonderful Pappy. I guess some people call him Max, but that’s not his real name; it’s Pappy. He is one of the most amazing men I know, and is such an incredible role model and leader for our family!

IMG_5364

My Mom with her two parents!

We all enjoyed a delicious dinner of lasagna and salad, and then homemade chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert. It was so nice being together with everyone and just talking and having fun.

IMG_5361 IMG_5362

Ryan, Ben, Kaleigh, and I played Monopoly for a little bit that night with our two little cousins, Cooper and Cade.

IMG_5363

When we left my aunt and uncle’s house we stopped by Mammy and Pappy’s house so the boys could help them fix on of their televisions. So us women had to get a picture together. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ryan and I drove home right after this, where we immediately crashed and fell asleep in bed.

Saturday morning I had a great breakfast!

IMG_5340

I sauteed tomatoes, onions, bell pepper, and mushrooms with some leftover quinoa and then cooked two over easy eggs. When it was all done cooking I topped it with 1/4 of an avocado and some salsa. Then obviously I needed a banana with some peanut butter. ๐Ÿ™‚

We went to church that morning, came home and had leftovers for lunch, and then I went to Aldi to go grocery shopping. I came home and Ryan and I got to work making this homemade pizza dough. I had never made pizza dough like this, but Ryan had, so he was such a huge help and taught me some things!

IMG_5349

Once we made part of the dough it needed to rise for a bit, so Ryan and I went to Wal Mart when it rose so I could finish getting a few groceries I couldn’t get at Aldi.

When we got back we finished making the dough, and I cooked and chopped some veggies for the week.

Here is the final crust.

IMG_5352

This recipe is amazing for numerous reasons, but one of the reasons is it was enough to make two pizzas! Ryan and I love leftovers, especially homemade pizza leftovers, so this was perfect for us!

I sauteed onions, bell pepper, mushrooms, tomatoes, zucchini, and squash to put on top of the pizza.

IMG_5353

I am so happy that Ryan eats all of these beautiful, tasty vegetables now! I mean, look at all of those pretty colors, who wouldn’t want to eat that?

We topped our pizza with pizza sauce, the veggies (I also put broccoli on my half), mozzarella cheese, and some pineapple. Once we fixed the pizzas up, we baked them for 10 minutes, and they came out perfectly!

IMG_5354 IMG_5355

This was seriously the most delicious crust Ryan and I have ever had. We absolutely loved it! You need to all try it. And don’t be intimidated by making your own pizza dough, it’s not as hard as it seems. It’s just intimidating, but you can do it, I promise. Plus, Angela gives great instructions and pictures to help you!

The rest of our Sunday was spent cleaning and getting ready for the week. Ryan and I have been talking, and we have decided that we think it would be best if I could do our grocery shopping on Thursdays after work. It’s just so exhausting to do all of the grocery shopping, food prep, and getting ready for the upcoming week on Sundays. Ryan and I love being able to relax on Sundays, but when we have to go grocery shopping, clean, and cook, we just can’t relax. We love being outside when the weather is pretty outside (which it was yesterday), and we want to be able to go outside and enjoy it, and not have to be stuck inside working all day. So hopefully I can start meal planning and grocery shopping at the end of the week from now on!

It was busy, but still a great weekend, so I will link up with Katie! Thanks for hosting girl! ๐Ÿ™‚

Questions:

3. When do you do your grocery shopping?

4. Will you have a busy week this week?

Surprise, Surprise!

Today is a very special day. Today this beautiful woman turns 80 years young.

IMG_5106

This is my amazing grandmother, MawMaw. Her birth name is Patsy, but her real name has been MawMaw ever since she had grandkids. I’m pretty sure that’s her legal name.

MawMaw is smart, wise, beautiful, a strong Christian wife, mom, and grandmother, and so so caring. Everyone loves MawMaw. I wish you could all know her because you would immediately see how wonderful she is, and I know she would impact you in such a marvelous way like she has impacted me and everyone else that has had the pleasure to be with her. She was a teacher for several years, but spent most of her time taking care of my PawPaw and her two kids (my Dad and Aunt). I have so many great memories with this amazing woman, and I treasure every moment I get to spend with her.

Since 80 is a pretty big birthday, we decided to surprise her yesterday! My parents told my MawMaw and PawPaw they would come over for lunch to celebrate her birthday, but they said they were the only ones who could make it. MawMaw and PawPaw totally understood that we ย were all supposedly “busy”; they were just happy my parents were coming over. My parents told them they would bring food so they wouldn’t have to worry about anything.

Well my parents walked in and my grandparents closed the door. In about 15 seconds, my brother, SIL, aunt, cousin, her husband, their little boy, and Ryan and I came walking in their front door singing happy birthday. MawMaw’s jaw dropped. She was speechless. All of a sudden she just started crying and my grandfather did the same. It’s safe to say we surprised both of them. ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_5111

Here are my grandparents with their grandkids and great grandkids. My cousin, Grace, (the girl sitting on the couch on the right) is holding a picture of her sister, Catie, and her family since they weren’t able to make it. (They live far away and Catie is pregnant and due in January so there was no way they could make the trip.) With the picture of Catie, we are all included in this picture. ๐Ÿ™‚

We enjoyed some barbecue, green beans, macaroni and cheese, chips, veggies, and dips for lunch.

IMG_5103

And of course birthday cake for dessert!

IMG_5110

I loved started out the new year with family time!

IMG_5109 IMG_5115

My grandparents, Dad, and aunt.

IMG_5107 IMG_5113 IMG_5114

MawMaw, if you are reading this, I hope you know how much we all love you and are so thankful and grateful for everything you have done for all of us. You are such an amazing woman, and I look up to you so much. Thank you for being such an incredible role model for me. I LOVE YOU MAWMAW!

So that was our New Years Day. Ryan and I came home, relaxed, had leftovers for dinner, and watched House Hunters. It was a perfect way to start out 2014. ๐Ÿ™‚

Questions:

1. What did you do for New Years?

2. Do you eat black eyed peas for good luck? I don’t like black eyed peas, but my mom always makes me eat some on New Years Day. I usually swallow them like a pill, but we had two dips with black eyed peas in them this year that were really good, so for the first time ever I enjoyed the black eyed peas I ate on New Years!

3. What was the last surprise birthday party you went to?

4. Tell me something about your grandparents you love!

Birthday Celebrations!

First off, I want to start out by giving a HUGE happy birthday to the most amazing husband in the world!!!

Billups wedding 7297

So before I get I give you all a recap of our weekend, I have to say a few things.

Ryan, thank you for always being there for me, holding my hand, making my tears go away, just like the picture above shows.

Billups wedding 7695

Thank you for always making me laugh.ย Thank you for being the amazing Christian man and leader that I need. Thank you for praying for me, loving me, and always putting me above yourself. Thank you for supporting me, putting up with me, and never getting mad when my alarm goes off at 4:45 in the morning. ๐Ÿ˜‰

engagement pic 2

Thank you for constantly encouraging me and supporting me in everything I do. Thank you for being a gentleman at all times and doing the little things, like opening my door and cleaning the dishes. You are an amazing person, and you positively impact so many ย people in our life. You make me a better person, a better wife, and a better Christian. I am honored to submit myself to you and follow you, because by doing this I know I am also following Jesus.

Okay, so now onto a recap of our super fun, marvelous weekend! This means I definitely have to link up with Marvelous Mondays!

MIMM

Like I mentioned, we started celebrating Ryan’s birthday Saturday by staying at a hotel that night and going out to eat. The hotel was really nice, (and I got a great deal which made it even better!), but the only disappointment was that the pictures showed there was an indoor hot tub with the indoor pool, but I guess they haven’t updated their website because where the hot tub should have been was just a table and chairs. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ But we definitely didn’t let that ruin our weekend, and we still had a blast!

We started off the day by going to Ryan’s favorite store!

IMG_4293

I actually really enjoy going to this store too. Ryan didn’t buy anything, but he had some things he needed to return and we just looked around.

IMG_4294

I told Ryan to pick anywhere he wanted for us to eat, and this was his choice.

IMG_4308

Burger House Hamburgers! Ryan loves places like this, where they just make good burgers, fries, and homemade shakes. He isn’t a fancy restaurant guy, which I love about him. Plus, I love restaurants like this too, so it made for a perfect dinner.

IMG_4300

This was my meal. I know this looks like a lot of food, but I actually got the kids meal! This was the kid’s burger and fries and then a small vanilla milkshake. It was all delicious! ๐Ÿ™‚

I think the handsome birthday boy liked his dinner.

IMG_4303

After we ate we were both stuffed and went back to our hotel room to relax and watch the Dallas Mavericks basketball game. Ryan didn’t want to do anything else. I know this date night doesn’t seem like much, but it was perfect for us!

We woke up the next morning and were ready for the free breakfast the hotel offered by the time it opened at 7:00 a.m. I enjoyed some oatmeal with walnuts and some eggs.

IMG_4309

Ryan and I both agreed that it was one of the best free hotel breakfasts we had ever had. The eggs were actually real and didn’t look like patties. (Do y’all know what I’m talking about? Where they don’t look or taste like eggs? If you don’t know, consider yourself lucky).

By the time we got back home it was too late to go to our own church, so we watched a sermon online together, and then took our dogs out for a walk before the Cowboys football game started.

IMG_4312

We actually went for a walk/run, and I was very proud of Ryan because it has been a while since he last ran. But when we finished I think he was a little tired. ๐Ÿ™‚

IMG_4311

For the rest of the afternoon we relaxed, Ryan watched football, and I did some grocery shopping and food prep for the week. Ryan also helped me make dinner, so we had some delicious chicken fajitas with guacamole!

IMG_4320

I ate mine on corn tortillas and topped them eat with spinach and tomatoes. Then I had carrots, bell pepper, and some Almond Thins with guacamole. Delicious!

That was all of our birthday weekend, but of course we are still celebrating today!

IMG_4322

I got this Happy Birthday sign at WalMart last night, so it will probably be up all week. ๐Ÿ™‚ Tonight we are having Ryan’s favorite meal for dinner, cheeseburgers, chips and queso, and macaroni and cheese. Then pumpkin pie for dessert!

Ryan, I hope you have an amazing birthday, and I look forward to celebrating many more with you! Love you!

Questions:

1. Tell me something fun from your weekend!

2. What is your favorite meal?

3. What is your favorite flavor of milkshake?
