Thank You for Being Patient

Hello! I am just stopping by real quick to say a few things in a numbered list format!

1. Thank you for all of your sweet words and comments on my post about Aunt Kim. Also, thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. Seriously, y’all are so sweet and I continue to be amazed by the blogging community and the people I have met.

2. Thank you for being patient with me as I have gone a few days without posting. I thought I would have been able to have a post written for yesterday and another one for today (besides this short, quick post). This hasn’t happened though. It’s been a hard, exhausting week, but it is getting better.

3. I am hoping to have a real post up by tomorrow! 🙂

That is all! 🙂 I am going to bed now so that hopefully I wake up fully refreshed and energized tomorrow! I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday! Go out, be happy, be active, love freely, and be thankful for everything and everybody.

Also, I am working on switching to self-hosting my blog and getting my own domain name! Eeek! I am nervous and excited! 🙂 Any tips you have are welcome here!

Week of Fitness 1/27-2/2 and Meal Planning

Good morning! I was up early this morning (as usual), so I thought I could bust out a quick post as I finish up my meal prep for the week! First, let’s go over this past week’s workouts. In case you don’t remember, I went down on my mileage this week for my marathon training. For four weeks straight I increased my mileage every week, so this week I went down to give my body a break. I will be increasing my mileage again this week.

Monday: 3 miles. This was supposed to be four, but Monday was extremely cold here (at least for us Texans 😉 ) and very windy, and three miles was all I could endure.

Tuesday:This HIIT cardio strength workout 2xs

Wednesday: 3 miles at a harder and faster pace than normal and my Work All of Those Muscles workout 3xs through

Thursday: Unexpected race day. I was going to run four miles before work, but I didn’t sleep well that night and was sniffling the whole night. So when my alarm went off at 5:00 a.m. I knew I needed to let my body rest. I really wanted to run because I didn’t know if I could get my workout in any other time, but sometimes rest is more important. That afternoon I did our grocery shopping for the week so I couldn’t work out then either. It’s okay though, I’m sure my body appreciated the extra rest.

Friday: Yoga video from doyogawithme.com. This video focused on doing a deep release for my hips, hamstrings, and lower back. I felt so good after this! I also did a 60 minute plank after the video before I had to go get ready for work.

Saturday: 8 miles

Sunday: Rest Day

I really went back on my mileage this week, but now I’m really ready to get back to some longer runs this week! This week just seemed crazy, so I’m reading for a good week of workouts!

Now for this week’s meals:

Saturday (last night): stuffed spaghetti squash that was so good! Courtney called it “Sensational Stuffed Spaghetti Squash” for a reason! I did mostly exactly what her recipe said, but instead of a couple of slices of bacon I added tempeh for protein, and I didn’t use goat cheese because we didn’t have any of that.

Sunday: Wing it. I’m not exactly sure of our plans for tonight since the visitation is tonight. We might be with family later tonight, we might not. We will just see how it goes, and if we end up being at home, we have plenty of food so I can throw something together!

Monday: Baked coconut shrimp with Amy’s twice baked potatoes

Tuesday: Lentil walnut loaf with butternut squash and some type of other vegetable.

Wednesday: Black bean and butternut squash burritos with guacamole, veggies, and chips for Ryan. Instead of rice for this recipe, I am going to use quinoa.

Thursday: Crock pot lasagna soup. Since I have started doing my grocery shopping on Thursdays (which I love, now I don’t have to deal with the grocery store on the weekends! Whoo!), I learned that I definitely don’t feel like cooking once I get home from the store. So having a meal already prepared in the crockpot this night is going to be wonderful!

Sidenote: I plan on doing a post sometime in the near future about my whole grocery list, and how I shop on a budget!

For meal prep this week I chopped up four onions, four bell peppers, sliced up three bell peppers for snacking, washed, peeled and cut up carrots for snacking, sliced and baked a butternut squash, roasted broccoli, squash, zucchini, and mushrooms for side dishes, chopped up a cup of diced broccoli, cooked 2 cups of quinoa, and chopped up mushrooms for eggs and salads during the week. This will make my week oh so much easier! 🙂

Lastly, I know I have mentioned this a lot, but I definitely want to buy my own domain and self host my blog. I need some suggestions of good companies to use for this! Any advice you can give I would greatly appreciate! I have used up all of my free space for media on the free version of WordPress, and I am ready to improve this little blog of mine! 🙂

I hope you all have a great Sunday, and please continue to keep my family and I in your prayers. I should be back posting on Tuesday. 🙂

Questions:

1. Blogging advice for me on my own domain name and on self-hosting?

2. How was your week of workouts?

3. What are you cooking this week?

We Love You Kim

I was contemplating on writing this post yesterday. Being a blogger, you open up so much of your life for the public to see, and it’s up to you to decide how much you want to share and how much you want to keep private. I am a pretty optimistic person, and I try to keep my blog mostly positive, but I also like to “keep it real” and let’s face it, life isn’t always pretty flowers and sunshine.

There is no good way to go into this, so I’m just going to write it. The world lost an amazing woman yesterday morning. Ryan’s Aunt Kim has been battling cancer for quite a while now, and early yesterday morning God called her home.

We have all desperately been praying for Kim and for the Lord’s will to be done. We saw this coming, but even when you expect something like this, you can never fully be prepared for death. Especially for someone you love and someone as wonderful as Kim.

Kim was an amazing woman who everyone loved. Her fun, sweet, kind, outgoing spirit was evident to everyone who knew her. She was a fantastic woman, wife, mother, friend, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother. I only knew Kim for a few years, but I loved her. You couldn’t not love Kim. Just thinking about her makes me smile. 🙂

The visitation will be Sunday, and the funeral Monday. This weekend Ryan and I will be spending time with family. I will most definitely not be posting anything on here this Monday, and I might still post my workouts for this past week tomorrow, but I might not. This blog is just part of my life; it’s not my whole life, and right now what’s most important is to be with family.

Before I end this post, I have to say that we are still glorifying the Lord through all of this. We don’t understand why this happened, but we KNOW that the Lord has a plan through all of this. We might never know what it is, but I trust the Lord and His plan. We continue to praise Him through the good and the bad.

…The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job 1:21

Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Psalm 62:8

Please be praying for our family.

As always, thank you for taking the time to read this little blog of mine. I am very thankful for each of you. 🙂

The Best Day of My Life: The Wedding Reception

Three weeks ago I shared pre-wedding ceremony pictures, and two weeks ago I shared pictures from our wedding ceremony. Today I will share pictures from our wedding reception! Then I promise I will be done with the wedding posts, besides our honeymoon, which I still need to recap! I know I should have written these posts so long ago since we got married and went on our honeymoon in June, but hey, better late than never right? 🙂

Before we went to the reception, right after the ceremony, our preacher signed our marriage license to make it official!

Billups wedding 7475

We had to give a thumbs up for him signing it!

Billups wedding 7490

Our wedding party was waiting on us to go to the reception and be announced. After the ceremony we took family and group pictures, and told the wedding guests to go ahead and start eating. So after the pictures is when we signed the marriage license. Then we met our wedding party in the elevator and the photographer was able to snap a quick picture of us all stuffed in the elevator before we went up to the third floor for the reception.

Our friend, Travis, announced our whole wedding party into the reception, and last he announced us! You can’t really see our faces in this picture, but we both have huge smiles!

Billups wedding 7508

We walked into our first dance song and went immediately into our dance. We danced to “When I Say I Do” by Matthew West. If you have never heard this song, I highly recommend you follow the link and listen to it. It is so so beautiful, and it was the exact song Ryan and I wanted to dance to.

I have to say, Ryan is an excellent dancer!

After I danced with Ryan, I was lucky enough to enjoy my father/daughter dance with my wonderful Daddy. This was such a special moment, and something I will always treasure. We danced to “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle.

Next, Ryan and his Mom danced to “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Wommack.

After the dances, my brother and Ryan’s two brothers all gave amazing speeches!

Billups wedding 7579Billups wedding 7587 Billups wedding 7589

My maid of honor, Marlee, and my Dad also gave a speech. All of these speeches touched Ryan and I very much. Everyone’s words were so sweet!

After speeches Ryan and I walked around and talked to as many people as we could, but there was so many people we weren’t able to get to everyone. Before we knew it, it was time to cut the cake!

Ryan accidentally missed my mouth a little bit. 🙂

Billups wedding 7605 Billups wedding 7606

Ryan isn’t a huge fan of cake, so he decided he wanted brownies instead of cake, and it was a huge hit!

Billups wedding 7632

After cutting the cake we talked to people a little bit more, and then we played the shoe game!

Billups wedding 7646 Billups wedding 7644 Billups wedding 7653 Billups wedding 7654 Billups wedding 7655

In case you don’t know what the shoe game is, the bride and groom each take off their shoes and the bride holds one of her shoes and one of the groom’s. The groom does the same thing. We then had our announcer, our friend Travis, ask us questions, like who would clean the toilet? Then the bride and groom hold up the shoe of the person who they think will do that job or whatever the answer to that question might be. This ended up being a lot of fun!

Billups wedding 7647

The last question was who do you love more than anyone in the world, and of course I held up Ryan’s shoe, and he held up mine. 🙂

Shortly after this I threw my bouquet.

Billups wedding 7659 Billups wedding 7661 Billups wedding 7670

My best friend since fifth grade, Shelby, caught the bouquet. By the looks of the above picture, I am pretty sure she wanted it. 😉

Next, Ryan through the football with the garter around it. I saw the football idea on Pinterest and loved it!

Billups wedding 7665 Billups wedding 7666

Shelby’s boyfriend (at the time )wasn’t as lucky as her though. Ryan’s little cousin Grayson caught the football with the garter, haha! But don’t worry, at the end of last year Shelby and her boyfriend, Drake, got engaged and they are getting married this June. 🙂

And because I haven’t showed any pictures of our reception room, here you go. 🙂

This was me and Ryan’s table.

Billups wedding 7493

I loved all of our flowers!

Billups wedding 7492

We had a taco bar for dinner! It was all delicious! (Ryan and I didn’t have time to eat at the reception, but our caterer was amazing, and she packed us some to go boxes to eat in the limo after the reception. She seriously thought of everything!)

Billups wedding 7491

This was the area where the food and drinks were. There was a room to the right where the reception took place.

Billups wedding 7650 Billups wedding 7649 Billups wedding 7648

Everything was absolutely beautiful!

The whole night went by so quickly, and before we knew it, our limo was there to pick us up and everyone was blowing bubbles at us as we left.

Oh my gosh this day was amazing! Seriously, our wedding day was the best day of my life, and one I will always remember and treasure. Everything about it was a dream come true. The best part, though, was marrying the man of my dreams and my best friend. It still makes me so excited to actually call him my husband and know that I am lucky enough to be his wife. 🙂

I’m Really Bad at Coming Up With Names for Workouts…

How do you fellow bloggers always seem to come up with a cute name for the new workout you are sharing? I am the worst at this! If you look at my Workouts page you will see that I don’t have many creative names for the workouts I have made up. Maybe I will get better at this, or maybe my workouts will just have boring, corny names. Most likely it will be the latter. 🙂

I did some strength training as part of my marathon training yesterday and made up a new workout I wanted to share. Because it’s a strength workout and  you are working your muscles, I gave this workout the clever name, “Work All of Those Muscles.” I know, I know, I don’t know how I am so creative. 😉

real work all of those muscles

I did 15 reps of all of the exercises except for the lunge pulses into a bicep curl and the wall sit, and you can read in the picture what I did for those. (Note: for the lunge pulses into bicep curl, I did 20 total, 10 each leg). I went through this for a total of three times, and could feel the burn! Make sure you use weight that is challenging enough for you!

Here are a few links to some moves that you might not be so familiar with.

3 Lunge pulses into bicep curl

Push-ups on medicine ball

Hamstring curls on ball

And before I go get ready for bed I want to share a picture of my dinner because it was sooooo delicious! And yes, all of those o’s were necessary in “so” because it was that good.

IMG_5377

Now that I am posting this picture, I see that this actually isn’t a very good picture and it doesn’t look that appetizing. Please trust me though; this was delicious. Ryan put it under the “phenomenal” category! This was taco chili with nacho cheese sauce from Angela at Oh She Glows. This is also where I got the recipe for the amazing whole wheat pizza crust we made on Sunday. None of her recipes have disappointed us yet! If you have never checked out her blog or recipes, you should!

I ate my chili on a bed of spinach, which you can see from the picture above, so that I could get in some extra veggies, but this chili is perfectly fine by itself. Ryan ate it in a bowl with some shredded cheese on top and some tortilla chips. I also think it would be amazing on a bed of quinoa. So many options!

Lastly, I also made some homemade almond butter for the first time last night in our food processor.

IMG_5379

Oh my gosh, I’m so happy I decided to do this! It was so easy and absolutely scrumptious! All I did was put one cup of almonds in the food processor and put it on high for a few minutes. Anyone can do that! I will probably use more almonds next time so that it will make more almond butter! This is a much more affordable option since almond butter can be a little pricey.

Now, off to bed!

Questions:

1. What is a good strength workout I should try?

2. Tell me something good about your life right now. 🙂

3. Have you ever made any type of homemade nut butter? I really want to make more now! I am thinking cashew butter next!
