Fitness Week of 2/10-2/16

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! I had a fantastic weekend celebrating Valentine’s Day with Ryan on Friday night and then celebrating my birthday with my family Saturday night and Sunday. (My real birthday is actually today though.) We all had so much fun! I wish I could share pictures with y’all, but still hoping to switch to self-hosting soon! Remember, you can follow me on Instagram to still keep up with some of my pictures!

Saturday night my parents took Ryan and I and my brother and SIL to Saltgrass, a nice steak house, for dinner. I had grilled chicken with vegetables and a salad, and it was delicious! That night we stayed up late talking and laughing since we were all spending the night at my parents’ house. Sunday morning Ryan, Ben, my Dad, and I all played tennis, which was a blast! Then my whole family came over for a huge lunch of turkey, dressing, corn casserole, and a ton of other good food and desserts! We also got to play some ping pong and shoot Ryan’s new bow and arrow I got him for Valentine’s Day. It was seriously such a perfect way to start my birthday! I look forward to celebrating some more tonight with Ryan, and Ryan even says he will take me out to eat just us this weekend to celebrate my birthday too! 🙂

Anyways, I normally like to share my workouts from the past week on Sundays, but I never got a chance to post yesterday, so I wanted to briefly share last week’s workouts with y’all today.

Monday: 7 miles, 20 minute post run yoga (from doyogawithme.com), my add-on leg workout 3xs through.

Tuesday: Love Your Body workout from Purelytwins and my amazing arms workout 2xs

Wednesday: 4x400s & 4x800s. I would run one 400, walk for a minute, run one 800, walk for two minutes, and then start again with a 400 until I completed the workout.

Thursday: 6 miles and 8 minute abs

Friday: yoga from doyogawithme.com

Saturday: 17 mile run

Sunday: active rest day, tennis with the family.

I was so excited and happy after my 17 mile run because I felt great! This was the longest distance I have ever run, and the fact that I felt good during it was really encouraging since I am getting closer and closer to my marathon!

Anyways, I better go because since I can’t put new pictures on my posts, I am trying to keep them short. 😉

Let’s Catch Up!

Hello everyone! It feels so good to be back blogging again! I have honestly really missed it! Thank you for all of your sweet comments on my past posts and for totally understanding that I needed to take a break after our family news.

After the funeral last Monday, the rest of the week just seemed to be hectic and tiring! I was trying to catch up and trying to regain my strength. I was mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. (Sidenote: I am considering writing a post about how to deal with total and complete exhaustion. Would you be interested?)

But now I am back, and I feel rejuvenated! I still ask for prayers for my family because it’s still a tough time. But you have to move on with life, be thankful for what you have, and choose to be happy and positive.

If you  need some ideas to boost your mood, try taking some ridiculous pictures with your family. It’s pretty much guaranteed to make you laugh. Just looking back at these pictures makes me smile. I love my crazy, fun family. 🙂

So if you have been reading my last few posts you have probably noticed that I have talked a lot about switching to self hosting my blog and getting my own domain name. I still want to do this, and I am in the process of researching and finding the best company to use that works best for me and our budget. The main thing is definitely money. Ryan and I have a pretty strict budget, and we try our best to stick to it since we are trying to save up for a house. Unfortunately, we have had some unexpected expenses come up lately, which kind of delays us paying money to self-host my blog at this moment.

I am currently out of media space on this blog, and I don’t want to pay to buy more space since I am planning on paying to self-host, where I will then have unlimited media space. So until I can start self-hosting, I also can’t post pictures. 😦 TOTAL BUMMER, RIGHT??? Well, I can still post old pictures that are saved to here already, but that’s it.

Anyways, I love putting pictures on here, and I love how it breaks up the reading. I, personally, don’t really like to read a long blog post with no pictures. It seems to take too long, and I guess I’m a kid at heart and need pretty pictures to pull me in. 😉

So I really didn’t know if I would post anything since this post couldn’t have pictures (at least new pictures), but I wanted to give y’all an update on my life and why I’ve been gone for so long! Not blogging for this past week or so has felt really weird! It has just become routine for me now.

So here are a few updates, in a numbered list format because it helps me feel more organized since this post is jumping all around to totally different subjects!

1. Marathon training is still going good! Last week we got snow (crazy weather for Texas!), so I had to miss a couple of runs, but I did get in a 16 miler on Saturday! I run 17 miles this Saturday; that will be the longest distance ever for me!

2. We are still enjoying our meatless meals, and Ryan is continually trying more and more foods!

3. Ryan and I drove 30 minutes to a mall on Sunday after church so I could return a dress from Christmas, and when we got there I learned the store I needed to go to was closed on Sundays. Epic fail. Lucky for me, I am blessed with a very sweet and patient man, who didn’t even get mad at me. Love him to death!

4. Remember when Bear hurt his leg? Well a lot has happened since then, but I’m not going to share details until everything is final. His leg is getting better though. Our dogs are where part of the unexpected expenses are coming from.

5. With everything that has happened I really haven’t got to blog much in February, which is a shame because I haven’t been able to share how much I LOVE this month! And no, it has nothing to do with Valentines Day. February is my birthday month!! 🙂 Yes, I like to celebrate the whole month. Becky, (not to be confused with myself) you are with me on this, right? 😉 In case you were wondering and wanted to mark your calendar, the big day is February 17th. 😉

In case you want to send me a present, pro-compression socks would be nice. Or running shorts. Or if you really want to be best friends, you can send me running shoes. I wear a size 8. Or you know, you can send me food.

6. Valentines Day is in four days. What? How did it sneak up on us so fast? I have had a post planned for a while, “True Love”, that I was saving to write around Valentines Day, but the blog issues might not be totally resolved, so I might just do it at a random time. 😉

7. Ryan and I had an ice cream date Saturday night, and it was fantastic!

8. How do the snowboarders and skiers on the Olympics make everything look so easy and smooth? If I went out there and tried any of the things they do…I would die.

9. After I finished writing this post yesterday, I accidentally hit publish before I wanted to publish it, so then I had to make it a draft again. So if you follow me by email, and you got an email that didn’t lead you to a post, that’s why. Sorry, my bad!

10. Yesterday, I was feeling super productive after work. I ran by the grocery store to get sunflower seeds and hairspray, came home, had a snack, washed my pullover (that I spilt barbecue sauce on at lunch), cleaned the kitchen, unloaded the dishwasher, did 20 minutes of yoga for runners, made homemade cashew butter, cooked tortilla soup, and while the soup was cooking on the stove I did three rounds of my Add on Leg Workout. And we still at dinner by 6:15! Plus, yesterday morning I was able to get in a 7 mile run! I need to make all of my days that productive!

That is all I have to share at this moment. I am hoping to be self-hosting soon! Thanks for being wonderful y’all! 🙂

We Love You Kim

I was contemplating on writing this post yesterday. Being a blogger, you open up so much of your life for the public to see, and it’s up to you to decide how much you want to share and how much you want to keep private. I am a pretty optimistic person, and I try to keep my blog mostly positive, but I also like to “keep it real” and let’s face it, life isn’t always pretty flowers and sunshine.

There is no good way to go into this, so I’m just going to write it. The world lost an amazing woman yesterday morning. Ryan’s Aunt Kim has been battling cancer for quite a while now, and early yesterday morning God called her home.

We have all desperately been praying for Kim and for the Lord’s will to be done. We saw this coming, but even when you expect something like this, you can never fully be prepared for death. Especially for someone you love and someone as wonderful as Kim.

Kim was an amazing woman who everyone loved. Her fun, sweet, kind, outgoing spirit was evident to everyone who knew her. She was a fantastic woman, wife, mother, friend, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother. I only knew Kim for a few years, but I loved her. You couldn’t not love Kim. Just thinking about her makes me smile. 🙂

The visitation will be Sunday, and the funeral Monday. This weekend Ryan and I will be spending time with family. I will most definitely not be posting anything on here this Monday, and I might still post my workouts for this past week tomorrow, but I might not. This blog is just part of my life; it’s not my whole life, and right now what’s most important is to be with family.

Before I end this post, I have to say that we are still glorifying the Lord through all of this. We don’t understand why this happened, but we KNOW that the Lord has a plan through all of this. We might never know what it is, but I trust the Lord and His plan. We continue to praise Him through the good and the bad.

…The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job 1:21

Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Psalm 62:8

80th Birthday Party and Homemade Pizza

Are you all ready for a great week?? Let’s be positive and say HECK YES! 🙂

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! Our weekend was fun, but very busy!

I woke up naturally at exactly 6:12 a.m. on Saturday and layered up for my long run.

I am so over this cold weather, and by cold weather, I mean like barely freezing. You know, I live in Texas, so I’m a huge baby when it comes to cold. So all of you Northerners are way tougher than me. I apologize for complaining about weather that I can still run in, when a lot of you can’t even run outside it’s so bad out there! But it was 27 degrees when I started my run, and only 32 when I finished, and to me those are some low temperatures!

Despite the cold weather, the 15 miler felt great! This is a huge encouragement for the rest of my training!

When I finished my run, I came in and stretched while I talked to Ryan laying in bed. Then I showered and got ready for a wedding shower! One of my best friends from elementary school/junior high/high school is getting married in April, and her shower was Saturday. I am so happy for her, and I can’t wait for her big day!

Oh, and just a tip, if you run a long run and you want to wear your procompression socks or sleeves, just wear a dress with leggings and boots, and no one will ever know. 😉 This totally saved my legs Saturday!

The shower was in the town where my parents live, so Ryan and I drove to their house so my Mom and I could go to the shower together. While we were gone, Ryan, my dad, and my brother, Ben, went and played disc golf.

The shower was beautiful, and Amber was gorgeous! It was also nice to see some people from my hometown that I hadn’t seen in a while. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures here, but just take my word that everything was wonderful. 🙂

After the shower I hung out at my parents’ house with my Mom, and with Ryan and my Dad when they returned from disc golf . Ben and Kaleigh came over about 5 that night and we all left to go to my aunt and uncle’s house to celebrate my grandfather’s 80th birthday!

This is my wonderful Pappy. I guess some people call him Max, but that’s not his real name; it’s Pappy. He is one of the most amazing men I know, and is such an incredible role model and leader for our family!

We all enjoyed a delicious dinner of lasagna and salad, and then homemade chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert. It was so nice being together with everyone and just talking and having fun.

Ryan, Ben, Kaleigh, and I played Monopoly for a little bit that night with our two little cousins, Cooper and Cade.

When we left my aunt and uncle’s house we stopped by Mammy and Pappy’s house so the boys could help them fix on of their televisions. So us women had to get a picture together. 🙂

Ryan and I drove home right after this, where we immediately crashed and fell asleep in bed.

Saturday morning I had a great breakfast!

I sauteed tomatoes, onions, bell pepper, and mushrooms with some leftover quinoa and then cooked two over easy eggs. When it was all done cooking I topped it with 1/4 of an avocado and some salsa. Then obviously I needed a banana with some peanut butter. 🙂

We went to church that morning, came home and had leftovers for lunch, and then I went to Aldi to go grocery shopping. I came home and Ryan and I got to work making this homemade pizza dough. I had never made pizza dough like this, but Ryan had, so he was such a huge help and taught me some things!

Once we made part of the dough it needed to rise for a bit, so Ryan and I went to Wal Mart when it rose so I could finish getting a few groceries I couldn’t get at Aldi.

When we got back we finished making the dough, and I cooked and chopped some veggies for the week.

This recipe is amazing for numerous reasons, but one of the reasons is it was enough to make two pizzas! Ryan and I love leftovers, especially homemade pizza leftovers, so this was perfect for us!

I sauteed onions, bell pepper, mushrooms, tomatoes, zucchini, and squash to put on top of the pizza.

I am so happy that Ryan eats all of these beautiful, tasty vegetables now! I mean, look at all of those pretty colors, who wouldn’t want to eat that?

We topped our pizza with pizza sauce, the veggies (I also put broccoli on my half), mozzarella cheese, and some pineapple. Once we fixed the pizzas up, we baked them for 10 minutes, and they came out perfectly!

This was seriously the most delicious crust Ryan and I have ever had. We absolutely loved it! You need to all try it. And don’t be intimidated by making your own pizza dough, it’s not as hard as it seems. It’s just intimidating, but you can do it, I promise. Plus, Angela gives great instructions and pictures to help you!

The rest of our Sunday was spent cleaning and getting ready for the week. Ryan and I have been talking, and we have decided that we think it would be best if I could do our grocery shopping on Thursdays after work. It’s just so exhausting to do all of the grocery shopping, food prep, and getting ready for the upcoming week on Sundays. Ryan and I love being able to relax on Sundays, but when we have to go grocery shopping, clean, and cook, we just can’t relax. We love being outside when the weather is pretty outside (which it was yesterday), and we want to be able to go outside and enjoy it, and not have to be stuck inside working all day. So hopefully I can start meal planning and grocery shopping at the end of the week from now on!

The Weekend That Wasn’t Supposed to Have Plans

Hello friends! I hope you all had a great start to the week yesterday, and I hope you had a good weekend. I didn’t get a chance to post yesterday, so I just wanted to get caught up!

This past weekend ended up being incredibly busy for Ryan and I, but the funny thing was we didn’t really have any plans until Friday night.  I actually remember last Thursday Ryan asked me if we had any plans this past weekend and when I told him we didn’t, we were both pretty excited for a nice, relaxing weekend at home. We ended up hardly even being at home..

We left early Saturday morning to go to Ryan’s eye doctor appointment, and we ended up staying there a couple of hours. We got home so I could change into some nicer clothes, and then we went to meet his parents and grandma for lunch at Cheesecake Factory. I enjoyed some shrimp tacos from their Skinnylicious menu, which was delicious!

After lunch we went to meet our friend Wood (we call him by his last name since his first name is also Ryan) at his apartment, and then the three of us went to play disc golf at a nearby park. The guys are much better than me, so I didn’t keep up with my score. 😉

We finished our disc golf game right as the sun was going down, so once we got back to Wood’s apartment Ryan and I left soon to meet my parents’ at their storage unit. There was a leak in it, so we helped them move everything to a different unit so that the furniture wouldn’t get wet. After we finished, my parents were nice enough to treat us to dinner to Subway. By the way, in case you didn’t know you can get any foot long sub this month for $5! I got a footlong for dinner, but I only hate half so Ryan was able to half the other half for lunch on Monday!

By the time Ryan and I got home Saturday night it was a little after 9:00 p.m., so it didn’t take long for us to get ready for bed. I woke up early on Sunday to do my 11 mile run for marathon training, and then Ryan and I went to church that morning. We ate some leftovers for lunch at home, and then went out to meet my parents again. We are hoping to buy a house later on in the year, so we drove around some prospective areas just for fun. We actually did this all afternoon, and it was about 6:00 p.m. when we finally got home. We were so tired, we relaxed for the rest of the night and got ready for this upcoming week. I didn’t have time to go grocery shopping, so I went after work yesterday and got what we needed for the week.

I also managed to finish reading, “Redeeming Love” by Francine Rivers. It was an incredible book, and I highly recommend you all read it!

I’m planning on another good week at work and hopefully another good week of marathon training! Today is cross-training for me so I am doing strength and maybe a HIIT today.
