Gotta Work Those Legs and Abs!

Time for a quick Friday workout to get this day started so that we can be one step closer to the weekend! 🙂

So here is the workout I literally just got finished doing, and it was a good one! I didn’t want to go through a circuit where I repeated myself three times for every exercise, so I just did a bunch of different ones. I think the only ones I ever repeat are squats and jumping jacks.

Burning Legs and Abs

  • 25 jumping jacks
  • 20 squats with weight
  • 20 exercise ball roll ins
  • hamstring curl on ball
  • 50 mountain climbers
  • 20 squat jumps
  • 30 second side plank each side
  • 30 bridges
  • 10 ball hand and feet exchange
  • 30 jumping lunges (15 each side)
  • 30 second scissor kicks
  • 10 burpees
  • 50 bicycle crunches
  • 60 second wall sit
  • 50 crunches on exercise ball
  • 50 calf raises
  • 15 hand and feet exchange without the ball (just do the same thing without the exercise ball)
  • 20 squats
  • 25 reverse crunches
  • 50 jumping jacks
  • 60 second plank

I really wanted to work my legs and my abs, so this workout was perfect, since obviously by its name, that is its focus. 🙂

Here are a links to a few of the workouts in case you don’t know what they are.

I made these colors a light pink (blush) color in honor my my brother and Kaleigh’s Wedding tomorrow since these are their colors. 🙂 I am so ready for their wedding, and I wanted to publish a quick post now before school because I know once I get home from school I am going to be super busy packing and getting ready for their rehearsal dinner so that Ryan and I can leave once he gets off work.

But, this has to be a quick post because I need to start getting ready for school and eating breakfast! I hope everyone has a fabulous Friday! I probably won’t write tomorrow since MY BROTHER IS GETTING MARRIED!! YAY!! 🙂

What are your plans for this weekend?

What workout did you do today?

Ab Workout

Happy Hump Day! I am extremely excited because I get to go see this beautiful lady in just a little over an hour!

Shelby and me

Shelby is and has been my best friend since fifth grade. I haven’t seen her since the wedding, and I am about to see her two days in a row! 🙂

Anyways, I thought I would share a quick workout with y’all. This morning I ran five miles and then did this ab workout.

  • 1 minute plank
  • 30 mountain climbers
  • 15 scissor kicks
  • 30 second side plank (each side)
  • 30 in and outs
  • 20 plank jacks
  • 15 leg push up lifts
  • 1 minute plank

Go through this circuit and if you can repeat it two more times for a total of 3 times through! Here are a few links for some of the workouts if you aren’t sure what they are.

Mountain Climbers

In and Outs

Plank Jacks

Leg Push Up Lifts

If you have any questions please ask me, and if you do it please let me know what you think! 🙂

Sorry for the super short post, but I need to do a few things before I head out to meet Shelby! Have a great Wednesday! 🙂

What is your favorite ab exercise? Mine is the plank because it works out so much of your body, and you can do it anywhere!

What are your plans for today?

Anyone else still best friends with their elementary school best friend? 🙂

House Hunting Fail

Today’s Workout:

5 mile run

Leg and Ab workout from pbfingers.

Okay, now time to play catch up on the last few days. In my super short post Wednesday I mentioned that Ryan and I were going house hunting. We are looking for a small and affordable house to rent, that also has a backyard for his two dogs. We looked at three places yesterday, and sadly had no luck. 😦 We looked at another one Thursday morning and really liked it, but it smelled like the people who lived there before smoked, so that was a no go as well. But it’s okay, I know we will find something!

We did, however, make the best of being out and we had a dinner date at Olive Garden! This made everything so much better! Plus, we had a gift card that Ryan’s parents had given me at Christmas, so the meal was (almost) free, making it even better! Who invented gift cards? Like, for real, they are awesome! 2013-05-08 23.31.41

The breadsticks and salad at Olive Garden are always amazing! I am pretty sure I could make a meal out of just these two things. We also got some alfredo sauce to dip our bread into. I am not the biggest alfredo fan, but this was pretty good! I can only have some of my bread with it though; it’s too rich for me to have too much of it.

Above was my meal. It was some type of grilled chicken vegetable lasagna, and it was so good! It was on their light menu, so it only had 500 something calories, which is so good compared to their other dishes! The lasagna was filled with zuchinni and something else (maybe squash?), I can’t remember, but it was very delicious! I would definitely order it again!

Here is what Ryan ordered:

Let’s just say his chicken alfredo pizza was not on the light menu. 😉 But I did have a few bites, and it was very delicious as well!

I took pictures of one of the houses we looked at yesterday, so while in the bathroom I couldn’t resist taking a typical mirror picture. 😉

Now, onto more interesting things. Yesterday morning I was supposed to teach cycling early, and I was little nervous because I have never taught morning classes since I am usually student teaching and not able to teach cycling until late afternoon or night. The morning classes are usually all older people, unlike the late classes l normally teach that are filled with young, college students. I made a playlist I thought the older generation would like more and prepared my workout the night before, but sadly no one showed. 😦 Here is the empty fitness room.

But that is okay, because I still did the workout myself, and it was a good workout! After I did cycling and a quick ab workout, I ran 5.15 miles with my friend Brittany. After we were done with our run, I was starving! Some brocolli cheese eggs sounded amazing! I sauteed some onion, tomato, bell pepper, spinach, and brocolli in a teaspoon of olive oil and then scrambled two eggs in the mixture with a little shredded cheese.

This breakfast was so good! If you haven’t ever had vegetables in your eggs, you really need to try it! It’s so good, plus you feel great after adding in some veggies to your first meal of the day! Now, jumping all the way back to Tuesday. (Not getting to write a regular post Wednesday or anything yesterday really put me back!) I went to Sunrise Yoga Tuesday morning and absolutely loved it! I really want to get into yoga because I know it is so good for me! I would love to even be able to teach it one day, but I know I would really have to improve to be able to do this. After yoga I did an arm workout that doesn’t seem like much, but my shoulders were sore yesterday! I added in a few leg exercises, but to be honest, my legs were so tired from holding poses in yoga that I just wanted to focus on arms. 😉 2013-05-09 08.20.47 I jotted this down as I did it in my phone so I would remember it. I did this as a superset, so I would do three sets of the first two exercises and then go on to the next set of two. Do three sets of all of the exercises. For the first exercise, when I say incline, I meant incline press, and I just did the bar. 🙂 For everything else, when I say I did 10 pounds, I had a 10 pound weight in each hand, so total I actually did 20 pounds. The only thing where I used just one 10 pound weight was the overhead tricep extensions. Also, for the sumo squats, I used just one 15 pound dumbbell. But feel free to do whatever weight works for you! I’m not too strong so I have to stick with the lighter weights. 😉 If you do this workout let me know what you think! Hopefully it will leave your arms as sore as it left me! After these weights, I did about 10 minutes on the elliptical before I left to go eat breakfast. I wanted to get in more cardio than that, but my stomach was growling so I knew it was time for breakfast.

Tomorrow is a big day because Ryan is graduating!! I am so happy and proud of him! He has worked so hard, and I am so happy that he graduates with a job already lined up. This is such a blessing, and we give all the glory to God. I am looking forward to both mine and Ryan’s family getting together tomorrow for Ryan’s big day!

What are your plans for this weekend?

Anyone special to you graduating soon?

Healthy and Ready to Go!

I am finally over bronchitis!!! This shouldn’t be as big of a deal as it is, but I was sick for about two weeks, which meant two weeks of hardly any or some pretty poor workouts. Yesterday I was more than ready for a good run!

After school I didn’t have much time so I just ran 4 miles, but I was happy with how I ran. My overall pace was 8:30, which I felt was pretty good from coming back from being sick. I could tell I hadn’t ran in a while though because it was a little more difficult than usual. That’s okay though, I’m sure I will get back in the swing of things soon. 🙂

After my workout I enjoyed a quick dinner at the cafeteria on campus, because once again, I have not made it to the grocery store to get food for the week. The food was surprisingly good once again though.

2013-04-15 18.15.41

This chicken was delicious, and so was the huge salad! I didn’t eat the green peas though. I have never really liked green peas, but I thought I would get them to see if my taste buds have changed over the years. They haven’t.

Not pictured is a small bowl of buffalo chicken soup that I also had, that was quite delicious!

After eating, I headed to the gym for some intramural sand volleyball.

sand volleyball

Ryan and I are on a coed team with our friends, Marlee and Wood. Marlee couldn’t make it tonight though because her older sister had a baby that day, so our friend Leah played in her place. We played two games last night and had a blast! We won both, so that made it more fun. 🙂 I might be a little competitive. 😉

Ryan and I absolutely love intramurals, and we play whenever we get a chance!

For the rest of the night I studied for some tests I have coming up Wednesday. Before I went to bed I did make some time for an ab workout.

I did Russian Twists and Mountain Climbers. Here is how the workout went:

  • 2 RT (russian twists)
  • 2 MC (mountain climbers
  • 4 RT
  • 4 MC …

I would continue to do this all the way up to 20 and then go back down to 2. Make sure you do 20 twice in a row though so it counts for going up and then going back down.

  • Do you like to play sports?
  • Are you in any leagues or did you play intramurals in college?
  • What was your workout yesterday?
  • Are you always ready to workout again after being sick?

Indoor Track Workout

Today I did a speed workout at the indoor track for the Forever Fitness Challenge because the weather here was rainy and cold so I wasn’t able to go outside. 😦 Let’s just say, this workout was super tough! I did a total of four 400’s and four 800’s. My workout looked like this.

  • 400 yd sprint
  • 2 minute rest
  • 800 yd sprint

Repeat 3xs.

This totaled for 3 miles, and boy was I tired! I had not done a workout like this in a long time, and this was much harder than the speed workout I did last week. My times weren’t as good as last week either, but that’s okay. I have kind of been congested and had a cough all week, so I was still happy with my times.

  • 1st 400: 1:39
  • 2nd 400: 1:37
  • 3rd 400: 1:39
  • 4th 400: 1:39
  • 1st 800: 3:23
  • 2nd 800: 3:25
  • 3rd 800: 3:25
  • 4th 800: 3:27

The 800’s were super hard and definitely kicked my butt! I was sweaty and breathing hard when I finished.

2013-04-03 16.19.54

Yup, that’s how I felt when I finished.

After my speed workout I taught Six Pack Cycle. Besides also being on the bike we did three sets of six ab exercises. We did each exercise for 30 seconds before moving immediately to the next exercise. Here are the six ab moves.

  • Plank hold with hip touches
  • Bicycle crunches
  • Swimmer
  • Spiderman
  • Side Plank
  • Mountain Climbers

When my cycle class was over I was tired and ready to see Ryan! For dinner tonight we went to the First Baptist Church in town because they were having a steak dinner. I had a steak, baked potato, and green beans. It was perfect for the Sugar Detox Challenge since there were no added sugars. My lunch was also good. I enjoyed some baked tilapia, brussels sprouts, zucchini, and carrots.
