I started this blog as a way to communicate with other people who want to live healthy, active lifestyles, and to show people that being healthy isn’t about being a certain weight or wearing a certain size in a pair of jeans. People shouldn’t workout in order to have the “perfect body”, but they should work out to take care of their body, feel good, and be healthy. As a Christian, I take care of my body because it is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and I want my body to be in good condition so that God can use me to do His will. Girls especially are so hard on themselves and are constantly finding things wrong with their body. (I am not just pointing fingers; I am guilty of this too.) But I want all girls to realize that God created every single person, and He made everyone beautiful. So instead of being so hard on our bodies, I hope my blog can help people realize that our bodies are an amazing creation of the Lord’s and that we need to be healthy and active in order to take care of His wonderful creation! The name of my blog is TheSavedRunner, and this is because Jesus Christ has saved me, and because of this I live my life for Him! This means I need to take care of my body in order for Him to best use me to fulfill His will.
Well what can I say about me? I am 21 years old, married to the love of my life (he is my Prince Charming!), and I love Jesus and try to live for Him every day! I am a senior at college and am studying to be an elementary school teacher. I am currently student teaching, which means I go to an elementary school and get to help a real teacher. Yay for not having to sit in a classroom and take notes!! 🙂
I used to be a fitness instructor when I still lived on my University campus, but I don’t teach fitness classes anymore. I absolutely loved this job though, so maybe one day I can work at another gym when I am done with school. I absolutely love working out and anything that has to do with fitness. A good workout always energizes me and makes my whole body feel better. (I even love the feeling of being sore after a good workout; that just means it was a good one!) I have to say my favorite workout is a good, long run. Running used to be the only type of exercise I would do, but in the last year and a half I finally realized that strength training was just as important. Now I try to have at least three days a week of strength training along with running or some other type of cardio workout.
Ryan, my husband, is my best friend, and I like to do everything I can with him. We definitely have some fun adventures together! 🙂 We met my freshman year of college at the BSM (Baptist Student Ministry), but we didn’t start dating until my sophomore year. We weren’t dating long before I was totally and completely head over heels for him. We weren’t even dating a full year until we were engaged. What can I say? When you know, you know!
I am super close with my family; I have two amazing parents who, without them, I don’t know what I would do. I have an older brother, Ben, who is engaged right now. I love him and his beautiful fiance, Kaleigh, so much!
Mom, Dad and my big bro! Kaleigh and I!!
I am also very fortunate that Ryan also has an amazing family that I love very much! I am very proud to now be a part of their family!
The Billups Clan!
I love sports and I have always played sports for basically my whole life. Growing up I always played competitively, and I loved playing intramurals in college. I am hoping Ryan and I can find an adult league in our new town we just moved to.
God has blessed me abundantly, and I give him all of the glory for everything in my life! I can’t wait to see what else He has in store for me.
I love Acts 20:24 and live my life by it!
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me-the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.” -Acts 20:24
